Nice read there. And no, I don't think five years ago I ever would have been able to convince my past self that life would get better. I just thank my lucky stars it did.

I couldn't agree more. I'm from PA (that's right, the only state that prefers to go by its initials) but have since childhood rooted _against_ Philadelphia sports teams. Part of this may be my obstinate nature, but I think most of the dislike arose from having to sit next to rowdy, inconsiderate Phillies fans at every game. And while I haven't had what I'm sure is the distinct pleasure of attending an Eagles game, I know that no where else have the fans booed Santa Claus. And yet I too was almost happy to let Philadelphia fans have their victory this year. I figure there must be a good reason that they're so miserable, so perhaps they deserve this major league joy. And why worry - the news claims that fans are partying under control; you know, only a few fires so far...

I think I get where you're coming from. It's like how I get random messages from Milledge on facebook, and I get this weird flashback to my "former" life (to which--duh!--I still have lasting connections) and start feeling like two worlds are colliding.

But it's a good thing, because I'm allowed to cherry-pick all the best people/ circumstances/whatever from the different eras of my life.

Dude, I'm glad I checked in on your blog to read this, because I wouldn't have known otherwise. I hope you roughed out the nasty feeling (and I'm sure losing clarity/cognizance isn't your bag).

I guess it bodes well that you managed to string together all the above coherent thoughts :)

Dude, a corporate shill is better than pretentious bore. Not to say you have ever really been the former, nor myself the later; still, people love a good spokesperson ("Can you hear me now?" BS and all), while they often feel threatened to find someone's built their life around an alien concept (like how the uninformed are scared off by Muslims and that impenetrable Quran).

What I'm sayin' is: don't front like you feel guilty for your indulgences. Because you shouldn't feel guilty, man--you've earned 'em.
